Is the author of "The Unofficial Book of Harvard Trivia," which was endorsed by Jack Lemmon , and "Watching Sex: how men really respond to pornography," endorsed by Tom Robbins . Proofread and fact checked "Slippage" and "Edgeworks, Volume 3" for Harlan Ellison ; Loftus is listed in the acknowledgements of both books. Played Benvolio in 1979 Harvard production of "Romeo and Juliet" in which Jonathan Prince appeared as Mercutio. Uncredited extra in Timescape (1992) aka "Disaster in Time" aka "The Grand Tour". Loftus was a reporter for the Roseburg (Ore.) News-Review at the time and did an interview feature with star Jeff Daniels for the newspaper as well as features on the film, working as an extra, and the crew. Graduated from Marshfield High School in Coos Bay, Oregon, the alma mater of Steve Prefontaine, eight years after the American distance running ace. Loftus met Prefontaine at the end of his first week as a high-school freshman, and got to jog a little ways with him after Prefontaine witnessed Loftus's first cross-country race. The following spring, Loftus reset Prefontaine's school freshman two-mile record, by running a 9:59.4. Does part-time work guiding downtown Portland Walking Tours and serving as a customer service representative for Portland Streetcar, Inc. [2014]. Was a performing Scandinavian folk dancer in his teens and later performed English morris dances with the Black Jokers in Boston (1981-1987) and was a founding member of the Bridgetown Morris Men (1992-2000). Was a full-time reporter, critic, and columnist for the daily Roseburg (Oregon) News-Review, and has published free-lance pieces in the Portland Oregonian, Portland Tribune, Willamette Week, Harvard Magazine, and Boston Herald.
